What does your CIO want from you?
Updated: Nov 6, 2020
Earlier this week, a CIO told me "I want my devs on digital marketing and sales, not compliance!"
Their digital transformation is focused on sales and marketing capabilities, and his dev team is on the forefront as digital business enablers
To him data privacy is an esoteric area and privacy focused product companies like Cloud Compliance GDPR/CCPA Data Privacy Suite are a better answer
Why is this important for you the technologists, admins, developers, architects, information workers, digital marketers, or consultants?
Because how do you think about making the most impact and what problems are worth solving vs. getting solved will determine your success?
Time to market is a differentiator in covid19 era, especially if you are working with an enterprise technology platforms like Salesforce
Focus on building data privacy solutions instead of digital capabilites and your impact may be limited
Savvy technologists do a 'buy/integrate' for more standardized areas such as legal and compliance
They innovate and reimagine customer experience with technology
Are you intentional about where you spend your time as a technologist?
