We are all familiar with some version of less resources, time and skill challenge on our projects

I have learned the hard way that process matters more than milestones

Once I got that in my head, failure felt different - and the rate of success improved considerably

3 tips that were intrinsic part of the process

- Ask developers to explain the requirement that they were building for

- Shorter, more in-person and more frequent touchpoint to avoid any wastage

- Work on only one thing at a time - till it is completed

These are simple but hard to follow rules

The act of doing - Of chopping wood and carrying water - or writing code, debugging and deploying - is the same

Its the mental focus of the act, and the quality of output that changes dramatically when we have a process

I still struggle to do these on an hourly basis

The temptation to move faster and do more things is very difficult to get over

But I am trying :)
